Dedicated Circuits & Lighting in Snohomish and King County

Hot tubs, workshops, and appliances need their own circuits. We also install and swap recessed lighting, fixtures, dimmers, under-cabinet, and outdoor and landscape lighting.

What this actually involves

Anything that draws a lot of power - a hot tub, a workshop, a freezer, a microwave - should be on its own dedicated circuit. Sharing a circuit with a heavy load is how breakers start tripping and wires get overloaded.

We run dedicated circuits sized to the device, with the right breaker and the right wire, so each big load stands on its own. That keeps the rest of the house stable and the appliance running clean.

On the lighting side, we install and swap recessed cans, fixtures, under-cabinet lighting, dimmers, and switches. We also do outdoor and landscape lighting, including runs out to the yard.

Lighting work is also where old wiring shows up. If you have knob-and-tube or aging two-prong outlets, a lighting or fixture job is a good time to talk about bringing that circuit up to code.

Signs you need this

  • A breaker trips when you run a specific appliance.
  • You're adding a hot tub, freezer, or workshop tool that needs its own circuit.
  • Lights dim when something else on the same circuit turns on.
  • Recessed lights are old, flickering, or you want to convert to LED.
  • You want dimmers but your current switches won't take them.
  • You need outdoor or landscape lighting run to the yard.

What affects the job

Price depends on what we find when we come out. These are the real variables for circuits & lighting - knowing them makes the estimate call easier.

  • The length of the run from the panel to the device or fixture.
  • The amperage the dedicated circuit needs to be.
  • Whether the panel has a free slot.
  • Access - fishing wire through finished walls versus open framing.
  • The number and type of fixtures or switches involved.

What to have ready

  • 01What appliance or load needs the circuit, and its amp or wattage rating.
  • 02Where the panel is and where the device or fixtures go.
  • 03Whether walls are open (remodel) or finished.
  • 04For lighting, the fixtures or look you're going for.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my hot tub need a dedicated circuit?

A hot tub draws a lot of current for a long time. Putting it on a shared circuit overloads the wire and trips the breaker. A dedicated circuit with the right breaker and GFCI protection keeps it safe and running.

Can I put LED recessed lights in my old cans?

Often yes, with retrofit LED kits. Some old cans aren't rated for them and need to be replaced. We check the housings and tell you before we convert, so you don't end up with a heat problem in the ceiling.

Why won't my dimmer work with my LED lights?

Most LED dimmer problems are a mismatch between the dimmer and the bulb. LEDs need a dimmer rated for them. If your dimmer is older, swapping it for an LED-rated one usually fixes flickering and cut-off at the low end.

Can you run landscape lighting out to my yard?

Yes. We run low-voltage or line-voltage landscape lighting depending on the layout, with the right transformer and weather-rated gear. The cost depends mostly on how far the run is and how many fixtures you want.
