Remodel Rough-In

Real work, installed safely and to code.

Conduit feeds run through structural framing according to code, ready for sheetrock and final fixture trim.

What this actually involves

Remodels and new construction are where the rough-in happens. Kitchen and bath rough-in, additions, and whole-home rewires all start with planning the circuits, runs, and device locations before the walls close up.

We work alongside your general contractor. Coordinating with the GC, the plumber, and the HVAC trade keeps the rough-in on schedule and avoids the clashes that slow a job down.

HVAC electrical is part of this. A heat pump, furnace, or mini-split needs its own circuit and the right disconnect. We handle that as part of the rough-in so the mechanical trade has power ready when they set the unit.

Every rough-in gets inspected. We pull the permit, schedule the rough-in inspection, and handle code corrections if the inspector flags anything - so the job closes out clean.

Signs you need this

  • You're remodeling a kitchen or bath and the wiring is old.
  • You're building an addition and need it roughed in.
  • You're adding a heat pump or mini-split and need the circuit.
  • Your home has two-prong outlets or knob-and-tube and you're opening walls anyway.
  • You're a GC or homeowner building new and need the electrical trade.
  • An inspector flagged code issues on a sale or permit.

What affects the job

Price depends on what we find when we come out. These are the real variables for remodels & new - knowing them makes the estimate call easier.

  • Whether walls are open or finished - open framing is far less labor.
  • The scope - single room, addition, or whole-home rewire.
  • How many circuits, devices, and fixtures are involved.
  • Whether HVAC electrical is part of the scope.
  • The age of the existing wiring and what code corrections come up.

What to have ready

  • 01Your plans or a rough layout of the space.
  • 02Whether you have a general contractor and who they are.
  • 03What loads you're adding - appliances, HVAC, lighting.
  • 04Your timeline and whether walls are currently open.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with my general contractor?

Yes. We coordinate with the GC and the other trades so the rough-in fits the schedule. If you don't have a GC yet, we can still scope the electrical side, but most remodels run smoother with one trade running the job.

Should I rewire the whole house during a remodel?

If the walls are open and the wiring is old - knob-and-tube, ungrounded two-prong, or aluminum - a rewire during the remodel is usually the right call and far cheaper than doing it later with finished walls. We'll tell you honestly whether it's needed.

Can you do the HVAC electrical?

Yes. Heat pumps, furnaces, and mini-splits need their own circuit and a disconnect. We rough that in as part of the job so the HVAC trade has power ready when they set the unit.

Do you pull permits for remodel work?

Yes. Remodel and new-construction electrical is permitted work. We pull the permit, schedule the rough-in and final inspections, and handle any code corrections the inspector raises so the job closes out clean.
